Is your student interested in celebrating his or her everyday hero? Honoring Our Heroes is a great way to do so! Honoring Our Heroes is a writing contest designed for students to write about real-life heroes and role models.
This is a chance to recognize someone who has made a personal impact in your student's life, such as a family member, doctor, public safety officer, soldier, or teacher. Also, a famous individual such as a professional athlete or movie star CAN be a personal hero, as long as they have made a positive impact on the student's life through their dedication, perseverance, or other characteristics and NOT strictly because of their fame.
Entries are limited to ONE 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. The student may use both sides of the paper. Entries may be handwritten or typed. Entries will be judged based on content, not grammar or penmanship, but please be mindful to do your best work. Pictures drawn by the student may be included as part of the essay, but they will be judged based on content, not artistic ability.
Essays and entry forms are due to the DCES PTA by February 9th, 2024 3pm. A basket will be available from Feb 5th 2024 to Feb 9th 2024 near the front office for students to drop off their essays along with the attached entry forms. Link to entry form will be sent out at a later date.
First place winners from each grade will be submitted to the county level contest.
There will be a Forsyth County Honoring Our Heroes Ceremony at Junior Achievement Academy, with more information to come about date and detail!
